The Club Today

Arise & Shine! is a group of individuals with diverse backgrounds, intrests, and careers. Each members brings an personalized style to public speaking which is fostered by the family atmosphere created by our members. We encourage you to join us for a meeting and experience this supportive environment. Being a member of Arise and Shine is a great way to connect with your fellow "Ashevillians".

A Typical Meeting

Each meeting of the Arise & Shine club is structured to enable every member to get the most of their experience, even when they are not presenting a speech that day. The meeting is divided into two sections a business section led by our club's president and an educational portion led by the Toastmaster a position that rotates from meeting to meeting. Here is a typlical schedule:

Business Portion

• 7:30 Meeting called to order, Sergeant at Arms
• Membership and guests welcomed, President
• Membership is introduced, Arise & Shine Member
• Invocation, Arise & Shine Member

Educational Portion

• Toastmaster of the Day introduced, President
• Meeting layout explained, Toastmaster
• Meeting helpers introduced, Toastmaster
• Two Prepared Speeches delivered, Arise & Shine Member
• Table Topics (extemporaneous speech) delivered, Table Topics Master
• Evaluations of Prepared Speeches given, Evaluators
• Evaluation of entire meeting with reports from helpers given, General Evaluator

Business Portion

• Toastmaster returns control of meeting back to the president
• Meeting Announcements, President
• 8:40 Meeting adjourned, President
